Women and their emotions !!!!!

8 07 2008

Once again we had the opportunity to help the church with it´s ladies breakfast´s ministry. This time almost 90 ladies attended to hear about woment and their emotions. This time the themewas hate and anger. Malú cardona a christian psychologist gave the talk. We also participated in a couple of sketches where different scenes in daily life were represented. It was really interesting to see how each of the woment identified themselves in each one of the scenes.

At the breakfast we shared a little abut what the bible says about anger and it was a time of blessing as many were very attentive to Malús words.

Praise God for these opportunities that he has given.

Pedroches Valley Olimpics 2008

29 05 2008

The year team plus members of the church in Pozoblanco worked hard in order to prepare the children´s camp which took place from 23rd to 25th May in The Good Samaritan centre the children were aged between 9 and 12. Our theme was the olimpics we had an opening ceremony, competitions between different continents and a closing ceremony to which the parents were invited.

Initially we experienced some problems the biggest of these was the fact that 3 days before the camp only three boys had been signed up and we even considered postponing the camp but God´s hand kept us going and fulfill His will. The day before the camp we had another 17 children who had put thier names down so the camp was ready to go and the olimpic torch was lit!!!

Most of the children are not regular church goers either at the Roman Catholic church or any other. They did not know that Jesus is the only Saviour and that he forgives us once and forever. They adhere to thier families religion (Roman Catholic). It surprised me to hear what these children actually believed they lack so much understanding and it is obvious they repeat what parents have said or what they have been taught in catekesis.

At the camp Roland (German missionary and camp director) shared with the children about the importance of physical trainning for sport and for those atheles that participate in the olimpic games and this then led on to the person of David and the importance not just of the physical but of the internal heart issues and we saw how God looks upon our hearts not like men who look at the physical. we looked at different aspects of David´s character and in small groups we were able to get close and share we these children about David´s values and life.

The team had the opportunity to share the message of salvation with the children as in the small groups we took them through the “Book without words”. On the final day 12 parents  and the church in pozoblanco spent the morning with us as we had a family day together, sharing  what we had been doing during the weekend. Pray for so many seeds sown in the hearts and lives of these young people, many of whom were at the camp last year !!

Part of our work in reaching the Pedroches Valley involves encouraging people to join with us in prayer.

Over the last few weeks we have had several opportunities to share with people. On a personal level one of the most encouraging times was with the infants and juniors at Emmanuel School. They had been learning about missionaries and had seen a recent video which I had sent them. I was really overwhelmed by there interest and knowledge of different situations which was evident by their questions. We had a time of prayer together and they prayed for the Ladies´ Breakfast and the Children´s Camp – I also asked them to remember us every Friday in Hinojosa del Duque as we work with the children in that town.

The team had the opportunity to share their personal experiences and prayer requests at my sending church – and time was given for prayer and intercession for the work in the Pedroches Valley. For many it was helpful to be able to meet in person the team members and to be able to identify with them.

A question was posed – who is more important the person that is sent or the one that stays and prays – both are as important and necessary – many were encouraged to continue in prayer. We praise God for the opportunity given.
